Your Gig is your shop window on Fiverr. A clear, honest and well-organized Gig makes it easier for a buyer to understand what you offer and to decide whether to contact you. A weak or confusing Gig is easy to scroll past.
In this guide you will learn how to write a Fiverr Gig step by step, using Fiverr’s own help pages for the rules. We do not promise orders or income. Results depend on your skill, your effort and the market.
Please note: Fiverr can change its rules, limits and fees at any time. Before you publish, read the current guidance on Fiverr’s Creating a Gig and Gig requirements pages.
From the author: This guide is based on Fiverr’s public help pages. I do not work for Fiverr and I cannot promise orders. If you want a topic added, email info@earnexperthub.com
Before You Start
- Choose one skill you can actually deliver. Fiverr recommends starting with one Gig, and new sellers can have a limited number of active Gigs.
- Prepare samples of your own work. Buyers want proof. See our 30-day freelancing plan for how to build a portfolio.
- Use a computer. Fiverr’s help page says Gig creation and editing are done on desktop.
- Complete your profile and verification steps that Fiverr asks for before publishing.
Step 1: Write a Clear Title
Fiverr’s Gig titles begin with “I will…” and then describe your service. Keep it specific and focused on what the buyer gets.
- Weak: “I will do anything for you”.
- Better: “I will write a 500-word blog post on your topic”.
- Fiverr advises avoiding special characters such as &, /, quotation marks and +.
Choose the category carefully, because Fiverr says the category cannot be changed after you publish.
Step 2: Set Up Your Packages and Pricing
- You can offer up to three packages (Basic, Standard, Premium) or one flat rate.
- For each package, set the price, the delivery time and the number of revisions. Fiverr requires at least one revision option per package.
- Fiverr lists a minimum starting price of $5, and some categories have higher minimums.
- Be realistic about delivery time. Promise only what you can do, because late delivery can hurt your reputation.
Step 3: Write the Description
Fiverr’s description limit is 1,200 characters, so be short and clear. A simple structure:
- What you offer in one or two sentences.
- What the buyer gets in each package.
- How you work: your process and what you need from the buyer.
- Your relevant experience, told honestly.
Example (adapt to your own skill): “I will write clear, original blog posts for your website. You tell me the topic and audience, and I deliver a well-structured article with a short outline, headings and a final proofread. Basic includes one article. Standard adds keyword research. Please share your topic and any examples you like when you place the order.”
- Write in clear English. Fiverr requires an English description.
- Proofread for spelling and grammar.
- Do not put your email, phone number or messaging app in the Gig. Fiverr does not allow contact details meant to move business off the platform.
- You can link to your website or portfolio to show your work.
Step 4: Add FAQs and Buyer Requirements
- Use the FAQ section for questions buyers often ask: delivery, revisions and what is included. Fiverr allows up to 10.
- Use the Requirements section to ask for the information you need before you start. Keep the list short and clear, and mark essential questions as required.
Step 5: Make a Good Gallery
- Fiverr requires at least one image and allows up to three. The recommended size is 1280 x 769 pixels.
- Use only images you own or have the right to use. Fiverr says it may remove Gigs that use copyrighted images, and in Design categories images must be original.
- Do not put contact details in images or videos.
- Show your real work. Do not copy another seller’s samples.
Step 6: Tags and Publishing
- Fiverr lets you add up to five search tags. Use words a buyer would really search for.
- Check everything once more, then publish. Fiverr reviews Gigs automatically before they go live.
- Avoid making many small edits again and again. Fiverr advises changing things in batches.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Creating many Gigs at once before you have mastered one.
- Sharing contact details or asking buyers to pay outside Fiverr.
- Using images or text you did not create.
- Promising results you cannot guarantee.
- Paying anyone for a “guaranteed Fiverr order” or a “Fiverr account”. Read our guide on online earning scams.
