Who Is Eligible for the PM Chromebook Scheme 2026?

According to ProPakistani, devices are for high-scoring Grade 9 students, ranked on SSC-I results verified by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC). Students need at least 50 percent marks. The Prime Minister said devices will be given on the basis of “ability and ability alone”, and the programme also includes students from religious seminaries (madaris).

Eligible institutions, as reported:

  • Public schools
  • Private schools funded by provincial education foundations
  • Registered madaris

Quota and Province-Wise Distribution

ProPakistani reports this allocation, which adds up to 500,000:

RegionChromebooks
Punjab181,090
Sindh85,925
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa51,170
Balochistan31,815
Islamabad100,000
Azad Jammu and Kashmir25,000
Gilgit-Baltistan25,000

In each province, four of every five devices are for school students and one is for a madrasa student. Among school students, 70 percent of the quota is for science and 30 percent for arts.

How Will the Chromebooks Reach Students?

The report says devices will go directly to verified students by courier, and a central monitoring system will track them. Grievance committees will be set up at board and provincial levels. Dawn adds that the programme has a partner, the Tokyo Technology Care Foundation, and that connectivity is expected to reach about 2.5 million people including family members.

How to Apply for the PM Chromebook Scheme

ProPakistani reports that selection is board-driven. Education boards send the list of eligible students to the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC). For example, BISE Peshawar has uploaded its list on its website, and it identified students with 424 or more marks in Science and 315 or more in Arts. BISE Peshawar says these are not universal cutoffs, and the final allocation depends on verification.

Schools are asked to check the board list and complete the verification form with the student’s marksheet, an attested B-Form copy and an attested copy of the parent’s CNIC. The form is signed by the student and parent, then stamped by the principal and sent to the IBCC office in Islamabad. This process is described for BISE Peshawar, so check your own board’s notice.

Sindh: a ProPakistani fact-check of 26 October 2026 says Sindh has not been permanently excluded. The Sindh option is missing from the online application form for now, and registration opens after all Sindh boards declare their 2026 Class 9 results. The reports do not give a website address, so use only official links.

What to do now:

  1. Ask your school head whether your board has published the list, and check your own board’s website.
  2. Follow the official pages of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
  3. Keep your SSC-I result card and CNIC or B-Form ready.
  4. Do not pay money to any agent or website.
  5. Check any link you receive against the official government website before you enter your details.

We will update this page when official details come out.
